John’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

The storm is exiting today and on the back end of it cooler air is moving in. Highs in Albuquerque will only reach the upper 60s this afternoon. The cool down will be a one day deal. Temperatures rebound into the weekend.

A few showers will linger over the northern part of the state today, but most shower activity will end by this evening. The winds will also come down throughout the day. Despite less wind this afternoon, it will still be windy with gusts up to 30 mph across parts of the state. A few locations prone to higher winds could see occasional gusts higher than that.

The weather leading into the weekend will be much nicer. Saturday will feature above average temperatures, light winds, and lots of sunshine! Sunday will be warm and sunny as well, but winds will start to pick back up as another storm moves in for early next week.

Models are now coming into better agreement on the track of the next storm for Monday. One tracks it through southern Colorado while the other tracks it through northern New Mexico. The farther south the track goes, the better chances at showers for more of the state. Regardless of track, more wind will blow through the state as this storm works through. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
