Constant weather change affects NM crops

EDDY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The constant change of weather from dry to cold is affecting a lot of crops this year including some pecan orchards here in New Mexico. And that could soon add up.

According to the extension office a lot of pecan orchards in Eddy County are being affected by the recent cold freezes and it’s already affecting this year’s harvest.

Officials say below freezing temperatures have made pollination between the plants impossible resulting in a lower count of pecans or not as many healthy pecans as there once were.
