City councilors host special meeting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A special meeting will be held Thursday at city council after Monday’s melee at their regularly scheduled meeting.

Protestors took over the meeting and it got so out of control the council adjourned without taking care of any business.

Including, the big issue whether someone besides the mayor should have a say about who runs the police department.

One proposal would require the city council to approve the mayor’s choice. The other proposal would have the voters choose a police chief.

Thursday’s meeting began at 8 p.m.

Thursday’s meeting continued on well into the night.
