Campaign hopes to help pregnant women

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new campaign is being launched to help pregnant women in Santa Fe County get prenatal care regardless of their ability to pay.

“Healthy Babies” was created after a recent assessment found that 24 percent of pregnant women didn’t receive any prenatal care during their first trimester.

Officials at Christus Saint Vincent say the hospital will absorb any necessary costs for insured and uninsured moms-to-be under the new program.

Other participation organizations include Familia Medical Center.

It offers walk-in pregnancy testing and counseling about options.
