Autopsy Woman found dead in Roy was suffocated

ROY, N,M. (KRQE) – New details about the shocking murder of an elderly woman in Roy, allegedly by her own daughter.

Geraldine Ray, 89, was found dead in her home back in January.

The autopsy report released Thursday reveals that Ray was suffocated.

Investigators say the cotton balls found stuffed up her nose and tape over her mouth blocked her airway, but there was also evidence someone held her face down on the bed, until she died.

Police say that person is Ray’s daughter, 68-year-old daughter Donna Ray, whom she lived with.

She is charged with first degree murder.

She was arrested last month.

She has since bonded out of jail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
