APS board votes against pool funding

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APS school board members voted no to spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to make over the Rio Grande pool. It was rejected last night on a 4 to 3 vote.

The county and the state have already pitched in most of the more than $3 million needed to revamp the pool.

APS was then asked to throw in another $400,000 but some board members say approving the funding would have taken money away from classrooms or other voter-approved projects.

The county says it has not made any decisions on what the next steps will be, but that they are evaluating several options.
