Woman attempts to smuggle toddler into US

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A Nevada woman has pleaded guilty to smuggling a toddler into the U.S. via Albuquerque.

Serafina Madrid, 35, was arrested in August after she was confronted by officers at the greyhound bus station in downtown Albuquerque.

Madrid admitted that she was paid $1,200 to take the 16-month-old child from San Diego to her mother in Atlanta.

She says she was going to be paid even more when she delivered the child.

Under a plea agreement, Madrid faces probation when she’s sentenced.
