Man faces charges for pot-laced candy

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – The father of the boy who brought pot candy to school and shared it with a friend, has been charged.

Police say Doug Gordon is an approved medical marijuana user and had pot-infused chocolates in his fridge.

The son told police he didn’t know they had drugs in them when he took them to Rio Rancho High School and ate them with a friend.

The friend got sick and was taken to a hospital.

Gordon’s charged with negligent child abuse.

Medical marijuana rules say patients are supposed to make sure no one else gets a hold of their supply. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
