ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico is participating in a day of giving called Give Grande New Mexico and it’s a push for people to donate to more than 400 charities across the state and learn about what they do.
For example, there’s the Ronald McDonald House which gives families places to stay when their loved ones are in the hospital away from home.
The charity suggests people donate $15 a night to stay there when it actually costs about $75 a night to run the program. It’s hoping to get up to $10,000 to help keep it going.
“This one day of giving, it helps us keep the lights on, make sure families get a warm shower after a long day at the hospital. We make sure families get food and a place for rest to focus all their attention on their sick child,” said Kristin Rortvedt, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico.
There are more than 400 other charities involved in Give Grande New Mexico.
