ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico basketball team grew by one Monday. Tohi Smith Milner is a 6 foot 9 power forward out of Auckland, New Zealand.
Milner is a two star recruit who comes to the Lobos from Rosmini College, a boys catholic secondary school in his native New Zealand. Milner helped the school win a national championship in 2011. During his senior season he had a monster game that included 49 points and 15 rebounds.
Smith Milner was a member of New Zealand’s U 20 and U 18 teams. He will try out with the national team in June for the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Spain.
Other spring signees for the Lobos include forward Jordan Goodman from Harcum College in Pennslyvania, and center J.J. N’ganga from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Prep standouts Joe Furstinger, a forward from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and Xavier Adams, a guard from Flower Mound, Texas, make up the recruiting class of 2014.
