SF Opera to get a makeover

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Looks like the Santa Fe Opera will get some much needed improvements.

The opera facility is still known as a world-class facility, but the Santa Fe New Mexican reports more than $20 million worth of renovations will soon begin to expand certain areas to accommodate more extravagant productions.

According to the New Mexican, the 2012 production of “The Pearl Fishers” was a wake-up call that the opera house needs more space.

Work will begin on the first phase of the improvement project to include the entrance, plaza area, dressing rooms and costume shop once the current season ends.
