Tafoya chasing 300

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Rodney Tafoya is all business for Bank of the West during the week. During the weekend the 49-year-old is a complete terror from the bump.

Tafoya is a pitcher in the adult baseball league in Albuquerque and is one win away from a milestone of 300 career victories. He is sitting on a 299 and 60 record and hopes to reach 300 on his birthday Sunday. That’s when his Albuquerque Yankees will play the Colt 45’s at Del Norte High School.

He is trying to not let his big day grate on his nerves as it approaches.

“I’m trying to think about it’s just another game,” said Tafoya, “because I am thinking about going for 400 games in the next 10 years. So, it’s just one of those stops, it can’t be anything that I haven’t seen in the last 299 wins.”

Tafoya once played in the minors with Mike Piazza. Sunday’s game has a 2pm start time.
