City employee praised for helping sick woman

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A real life guardian angel got some much deserved praise Friday morning for his actions that may have saved a woman’s life.

Mayor Berry recognized Ben Syler a solid waste employee Friday.

While on a job Syler heard a woman screaming from inside her home.

He quickly ran to her side calling police and staying with her until medical crews arrived.

It was later determined the woman had suffered an embolism and it had traveled into her lungs.

He even got some praise from his boss.

The woman’s daughter wrote to the mayor’s office asking that Syler be recognized calling Syler her mother’s guardian angel.
