ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Officials reopened Civic Plaza Thursday after they say a suspicious package does not pose a threat.

Police say a backpack was left at the security desk at city hall, causing the plaza to shut down.

Around 5 p.m. Thursday, bomb squad deemed the backpack safe and reopened the plaza to the public.

Police are now trying to identify who it belongs to so that it can be returned to the owner.
