Cyclists endure 2nd NM tour crash

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Another bicycle crash during the Tour of the Gila.

But this crash was minor compared to Wednesday’s crash that involved 80 racers.

Two riders were airlifted to a hospital in Tucson.

KRQE News 13 talked with the race spokesperson Thursday who says one rider broke a jaw and other facial bones. Another has a hip injury.

Cyclists say it was one of the worst crashes they’ve seen.

Racers were going downhill at about 45 miles per hour when it happened.

The cyclists in Thursday’s crash weren’t seriously hurt.

The race wraps up Sunday.
