ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Petroglyph National Monument officials say their chief ranger went to the scene where a 1-acre fire broke out Wednesday and found a homeless camp.
Diane Sauter, the public information officer for the monument, said there was an old mattress, fire extinguisher and other debris. The chief also found signs of smaller fires.
Sauter said the area is not open to the public, and the person was trespassing.
Firefighters were able to put out the blaze quickly Wednesday, and it will continue to be investigated.
