Mother of teen accused of murder faces judge

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Loretta Villalobos faced a judge Wednesday for the first time for child abuse and contributing to the delinquency charges, and he continued her $50,000 cash only bond.

Villalobos is the mother of Brandon Villalobos, the 15-year-old Valencia County boy accused of beating his 12-year-old friend Alex Madrid to death then hiding his body under a mattress in February.

Loretta Villalobos was arrested Tuesday and accused of failing to keep an eye on her son and not get him help.

When she knew how violent he could be deputies say she told them it was quote, “easier to just leave him alone and let him do what he wanted”.

Detectives and prosecutors felt the lack of action played a key role in Madrid’s death.

Villalobos did not enter a plea Wednesday.
