Texas company to build NM wind farm

CLAYTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A Texas company has won a bid to build a wind farm in northeastern New Mexico.

State Land Commissioner Ray Powell announced Monday that Triangle Gallegos of Texas will develop the project on more than 50,000 acres near Clayton.

Powell says the project will utilize 285 wind turbines and could generate enough electricity to supply 200,000 homes.

The lease on trust land will also generate about $47 million in revenue for New Mexico schools.
