Man charged in Amber Alert case

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man who became the focus of nationwide Amber Alert after traveling to Albuquerque to pick up a 14-year-old girl has made his first appearance in court.

Robert Joseph Butler is accused of taking Lacey DeWent earlier this month with the intentions to having sex with her.

The two were found weeks later in Arkansas.

The Southwest Times reports that Butler has been charged in federal court in Fort Smith with transporting a minor to have sex.
