City councilors want to honor late fisherman

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Two Albuquerque city councilors want to honor fishing expert Bob Gerding who died in December after a battle with cancer.

The councilors want to rename the catch and release pond at Tingley Beach after Gerding.

For years, Gerding encouraged New Mexicans to enjoy the outdoors as a host of “Outdoor Adventures Hunting & Fishing Show” and during a special call-in segment during the noon news on KRQE.

The resolution will be introduced Tuesday during the City Council meeting. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
