2 accused in unemployment benefit scheme

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Two northern New Mexico men are accused in a scheme to steal $1.3 million in state and federal unemployment benefits.

Jasonn Gonzales an accountant from Velarde and Gerald Archuleta of Ojo Caliente allegedly filed false claims in the names of real people in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.

The debit cards were mailed to a post office box where they allegedly picked them up and later cashed them in.

Gonzales pled not guilty Monday a list of federal crimes.

Archuleta is a fugitive.
