Spectators invited to watch Atari dig

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – The dig for countless copies of the widely scorned 1982 video game ET begins Saturday morning at the Alamogordo city dump.

About a hundred people turned out for an ET pre dig party at the local Gamestop store Friday.

Spectators are invited and the first 250 will get ET water bottles and t-shirts.

The documentary film crew behind the search will start probing the dump for their strange buried treasure at 9:30 Saturday morning.

The ET game, widely described as one of the worst video games ever made, was so bad that Atari gave up trying to sell them and, according to legend, shipped a million or more copies to the Alamogordo dump.
