Sandia National Labs develops sperm quality test

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Technology developed at Sandia National Lab gives men the opportunity to monitor their sperm quality in the privacy of their own home.

It’s called Trakfertility and it was created by two former Sandia researchers.

The new, portable diagnostic kit allows men to self-test for sperm count and quality with a few sample drops.

And it also provides results in five minutes.

Researchers discovered the technology while working on a project at Sandia labs that would quickly detect toxins.

It soon developed into a whole new project and was contracted out to be put in the marketplace.

The portable test kit should be available early 2015.
