John’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

A storm moves in this weekend and it’s going to usher in big changes. Winds will increase this afternoon, starting a long term wind event. Winds will be on the high side through at least Monday as this storm works through with gusts in excess of 50 mph for most of the state starting Saturday.

Shower chances will be best across northern and western New Mexico. Showers enter the west on Saturday, then progress across the north through Sunday. Mountain snow is likely at resort level Saturday night.

We will begin with a strong southwesterly flow ahead of the storm today and Saturday. That will help keep temperatures warm. But as the storm departs, the winds will turn northwesterly Sunday and Monday ushering much cooler air. Afternoon highs will be 10° – 15° below average Sunday and much of next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
