ABQ catholic school goes green

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local catholic school is doing something no other in Albuquerque has ever done it’s going green.

Faculty, students and parishioners at Saint Therese catholic school gathered outside to celebrate the official installment of solar panels Friday.

Friday’s celebration is in honor of Earth Day.

Officials said 126-solar panels were installed.

School officials said the move to go green is not only about saving money but teaching kids a lesson in sustainability.

The new panels are expected to reduce energy cost by 85 percent which will help save the school an estimated $10,000 in the first year alone.
