Mark’s weather report

Mark's Thursday evening forecast

Winds will begin to ramp up on Friday as a storm closes in from the Pacific. This system will impact the state in three big ways. Lets start with the wind. Winds will gust to 35 mph on Friday and it only goes up from there. Winds on Saturday will gust to 50 mph on Saturday with blowing dust likely. It doesn’t get much better Sunday with gusts near 50 mph yet again. If you think Monday will bring relief I’m afraid you might want to think again. More wind near 40 mph.

The second impact of this storm will be on temps. We will top out in the low 80’s Friday but by Sunday we will only reach the low 60’s for highs. Not only that but the cooler temps will stick around most of next week.

Finally, we will see some precipitation as well. As the cold front passes through the state late Saturday we could pick up some showers here in the metro. The northern mountains are likely to get 3″-6″ of snow above 9,000′. Stay tuned more details on the storm Friday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
