Belen students sample world flavors

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – Some New Mexico high school students got a chance to go around the world Thursday, sort of.

Students at Belen High School demonstrated an array of cultures at this year’s international food festival.

It featured everywhere from Argentina, and Fiji, to Germany, Spain and Italy.

Students were challenged to learn the culture of each country and provide an in depth look at their lifestyle, economy and history then present it to fellow students, staff and visitors.

Students also dressed the part while passing out authentic dishes and drinks.

Thursday’s event not only counts as a grade for the seniors but also helps broaden understanding of other cultures while of course getting to eat some great food. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
