Belen funeral service hopes to build crematory

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – A company trying to build a crematorium in Belen will try again.

Noblin Funeral Services had asked the Belen city council to approve a zone change which would allow them to build the crematory in their current building on Renikein.

But residents were opposed because the property sits right next to parks and homes.

The council turned down the request.

Now the company has filed an appeal in district court.

The judge will decide if the council acted properly.
