Public meeting scheduled prior to Atari dig

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – Extra safety measures are being taken before the search in an Alamogordo landfill for a rumored stash of Atari games.

The landfill is where Atari reportedly discarded millions of E.T. game cartridges in 1983.

But before the search, which is set to begin on Saturday, a public workshop is being offered to let the public know everything that is being done to ensure environmental protection.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday night at 6pm.

Xbox and two other entertainment companies are making a documentary about the project.
