Intruder shoots homeowner, steals truck

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police are trying to locate a man who is accused of shooting an Albuquerque homeowner in the leg and stealing his truck during a home invasion Wednesday.

According to Albuquerque Police Department, officers responded to the home in the 1100 block of Jenaro Wednesday. When officers arrived they found the homeowner with a gunshot wound in the leg.

The homeowner told police that a Hispanic man was trying to force his way inside his house. When the homeowner refused the man shot the glass screen door and entered the home. As the homeowner was trying to get the man out of his house, the intruder shot him in the leg.

Police say the man then stole the homeowner’s vehicle and fled the scene. The homeowner was able to escape the scene and call for help.

At this time APD is searching for the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot 5 inches tall with short, dark hair. He weighs approximately 125 pounds and was last seen wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie and a dark baseball cap.
