High fire danger plagues parts of NM

Fire danger remains high in NM

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Winds are expected to pick up Wednesday afternoon and with them comes high fire danger across New Mexico.

Red flag warnings are in place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The combination of high winds and warm temperatures have caused concerns for the northern half of the state, with the exception of the Northern Mountains.

Last year, fire experts said New Mexico didn’t see large fires until May, when winds are typically very high.
