CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – An investigation board is expected to release new details about the radioactive materials leak two months ago at WIPP.
The site has been closed since the February 14th incident and at 5:30 Wednesday night during a town hall, officials will focus on three points.
How prepared were WIPP officials during the leak, the quality of emergency response and the steps taken by WIPP following the incident.
The report will not include where the leak originated because workers are still trying to figure that out.
They’ve already made their way through 7 different areas.
The company has been criticized for allowing its employees to return to work even after the leak was acknowledged.
