Police oversight vote put on hold

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – We’re going to have to wait for at least a few more weeks to find out what Albuquerque’s City Council wants to do with the Police Oversight Commission, the group that’s supposed to police the police department.

On Monday night, the council decided to wait until next month to talk about a plan to give the POC some real power which is something the Department of Justice report mentions is lacking in Albuquerque.

The mayor’s office essentially controls what cases the POC can hear.

Also last night, councilors introduced a plan to scrap the POC until an overhaul is finalized.
