Police investigate northeast ABQ death

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are investigating a suspicious death.

They found Geraldine Hoffland dead at a house in the 11000 block of Persimmon Northeast near Academy and Lowell.

Officers were originally sent to the house to conduct a welfare check. However when they arrived they had to force entry into the house after attempting to reach the residents by phone and through the front door.

Upon entry officers found Geraldine and Larry Hoffland inside the house. Geraldine was pronounced dead at the scene and Larry was transported to an Albuquerque hospital for apparent self-inflicted, non life-threatening injuries.

APD said the investigation is ongoing however Larry is being charged with an open count of murder and will be booked into jail when he is released from the hospital.

At this time officials said the cause of death for Geraldine is pending autopsy.
