Omaree’s stepfather arrested for selling meth to cop

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police have arrested Omaree Varela’s stepfather again.

Police say Steve Casaus sold meth to an undercover cop last night.

They say Casaus had $17,000 in cash, a lot of meth, and a gun on him.

Police had been looking of him after he didn’t show up to court last month for a drunk driving charge and police say they also found cocaine, pot, and heroin in his car.

His wife, Synthia Varela-Casaus, is charged with kicking to death her 9-year old son Omaree in December.

Casaus has not been charged in that case but a police report says he told officers he heard the attack going on.

His role in the boy’s death is still being investigated.
