Middle school bomb rumor sparks investigation

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A scary situation today at a Roswell middle school.

The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to Mountain View Middle School around 10:30 Tuesday morning after a student told a teacher he heard there was a bomb inside one of the classrooms.

All of the kids were evacuated while deputies, state police and the Roswell Fire Department searched the school for explosives.

Investigators say they found two condoms filled with water stashed in a classroom trash can which investigators believe are linked to the threat.

Still, parents were uneasy as they rushed to pick their kids up from school Tuesday.

Police say it’s unclear how the rumor of a bomb started and at this point there are no suspects.
