Dad sentenced in molestation case

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Sandia Park man who molested his own children and encouraged incest is going to prison for a long time.

Monday, a judge sentenced Matthew Cox to the maximum 18 years behind bars.

He had previously pleaded no contest to 10 counts including rape and child exploitation.

Cox and his wife Sheryl were arrested in 2010 after their 16-year-old daughter told a relative her parents made them gather daily for naked family circles where they touched the kids sexually and were told to touch their siblings.

Family members spoke out in court Monday.

”He was instrumental in helping many people including myself improve their personal relationships with god and other family members in his early married life it appears this was a game of charades by a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” a family member said.

Sheryl Cox’s trial is set for later this year.
