ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – North America’s largest Pow-Wow will be held next week here in Albuquerque and it’s expected to be a big boost to the local economy.
The annual event will take place at the Pit this year with hundreds of thousands expected to attend.
Events include performances by dancers, the Miss Indian World talent presentation as well as drumming and singing competitions.
“We want to encourage residents and visitors alike to get out and experience the gathering of nations and as mayor I talk to a lot of people who have never been so not only do we want visitors and many hundreds of thousands of folks to come in every year but we want our city to get out and really see this great event,” Mayor R.J. Berry said.
The Pow-Wow is a huge event for members of the Native American community and Mayor Berry said the event draws in millions of dollars to the state each year.
It kicks off April 24th.
