Some NM Supco judges won’t hear pay raise case

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Four of the five justices of the New Mexico Supreme Court have recused themselves from hearing a case involving a pay raise for the judiciary.

That 8 percent raise was vetoed by Susana Martinez

On Monday a group of district and magistrate judges asked the Supreme Court to overturn the veto.

The fifth Supreme Court Justice, Richard Bosson, has been appointed acting chief justice to preside over the case.

The judges claim the governor overstepped her authority and that her veto effectively deletes the judges’ entire salaries from the state budget.
