Jal police chief on paid suspension

JAL, N.M. (KRQE) – A small town police chief has been suspended.

A CBS station in Texas is reporting the Jal city manager confirmed Police Chief Larry Burns was put on paid suspension and that state police is now looking into the matter – that could possibly involve “violation of state law.”

The city manager also told KOSA the violations could involve other people in the department.

For now, Det. Mauricio Valerino is the acting police chief.
