Crews investigate overnight Bosque fire

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire that happened Wednesday night in the Bosque near Central and River.

The flames were spotted about 10 p.m. Fire crews were on the scene shortly after receiving the call.

The fire was located behind the 1300 block of Riverview Northwest.

According to Albuquerque Fire Department, the flames were spiking at least 6 feet when they arrived.

Crews had to hike to the fire area, which was not accessible by truck.

Seven Albuquerque fire units and 17 firefighters were on scene. The activity continued well into the early morning hours.

At various times during the fire fight, there were comments made about someone possibly setting fires in the Bosque. When asked if AFD could confirm that, officials said they don’t know for certain if that was the case.

Firefighters stayed out here all night, checking out hot spots.

No homes were threatened, and no injuries were reported.
