Feds arrest 34 violent NM gang members

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Homeland Security has taken down 34 violent Sureno gang members in New Mexico.

The feds announced the arrests Thursday as part of a national sting aimed at arresting Surenos who are linked to Mexican cartels.

Homeland security had been watching the gang members since March and moved in on them Thursday with the help of Albuquerque police and Santa Fe police.

They say the Surenos are one of many street gangs operating in rural areas across New Mexico.
