ABQ tram to get a facelift

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One of Albuquerque’s most popular tourist attractions is getting a facelift.

After 48 years, it’s time for the upper terminal building on top of Sandia Peak to enter modern times.

Makeover plans include adding more windows and installing heating coils in the floor and moving the bathrooms.

The building remodel plans will coincide with the peak’s 50th anniversary in 2016.

Right now, the tram is currently closed through Friday for its spring maintenance.
