Man gets 5 years probation, $50K fine for tax fraud

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A New Mexico tax return preparer has to pay up after being charged with tax fraud.

John Salazar, 69, of Espanola, was sentenced Tuesday to five years of probation and ordered to pay $50,000.

Last year Salazar was indicted on 16 counts of tax fraud after he allegedly claimed fraudulent deductions and farming losses on tax returns.

Salazar was also ordered to close his business.
