Land Rover unveils Land Discovery vehicle

NEW YORK (KRQE) – What does Land Rover have to do with Virgin Galactic?

The two companies have signed a marketing deal for the luxury vehicles and space tourism.

The partnership was announced Monday in New York, aboard the retired U.S. aircraft carrier Intrepid.

The companies showed off a replica of Virgin Galactic’s spaceship then unveiled the new Land Discovery vehicle.

It’s reported that the SUV will be used at Virgin Galactic’s New Mexico astronaut training facility and at the spaceport near T or C.

There’s also word that Virgin Galactic could add the Land Rover name to the sponsors on the spacecraft’s fuselage.

Virgin Galactic says the first commercial flight into space could happen later this year.
