Isotopes tame Chihuahuas again

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – After a three game losing streak, it turned out a home series against the El Paso Chihuahuas was just what the doctor ordered for the Albuquerque Isotopes.

Albuquerque took a second game in a row from the San Diego Padres affiliate Wednesday night, earning a 3-1 win.

The Isotopes struck early but not often in a low scoring contest.

Albuquerque got a solo home run from third baseman Jamie Romak and an RBI single from outfielder Nick “Chili” Buss.

Righthander Zach Lee picked up the win, holding the Chihuahuas scoreless for six innings of work and giving up just three hits.

El Paso’s lone run came in the top of the ninth from a Kyle Blanks solo shot. The Moriarty High School alum has already hit four homers for the Chihuahuas this season.

The win moves Albuquerque to 7-6 on the year.

They’ll play El Paso for the third time in the four game set Thursday at 6:35 PM. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
