12-year-old falls 30 feet in Jemez Mountains

JEMEZ SPRINGS, N.M. (KRQE) -A 12-year-old boy hiking near Jemez Springs fell about 30-feet off a cliff.

Sandoval County sheriff’s deputies say the boy was hiking with his father and friends, but the father got separated from the group.

As the kids looked for the father, the boy somehow fell off the cliff.

The kids found the father and went for help.

Emergency officials carried the boy off the cliff in a stretcher. He was then taken to UNM Hospital.

Deputies have not released what kind of injuries he got from the fall.

His name has not been released.
