Robbery suspects charged with attempted murder

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – What started as a stolen car case ended with attempted murder charges after police talked to the victim.

Patricio Ruiz and Jesse Peralta are now facing attempted murder charges after police say they and a third man robbed a man last Friday.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim told police one of the men shot him in the back of the head then stole his backpack and keys to her Mercedes.

The victim made it to UNM Hospital.

Luckily, the gunshot was not life-threatening.

When police questioned them, Ruiz and Peralta pointed the finger at each other.

The complaint says Peralta finally confessed, telling police they were initially on drug run when they stumbled upon the victim. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
