Tax deadline is fast approaching

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Just about everyone’s least favorite day of the year is fast approaching: Taxes are due Tuesday night.

It’s always a race to file on time and while it is safest to file by the deadline, there is some wiggle room for certain people.

Those who are absolutely positive they will get a refund will not face any penalties if they miss Tuesday’s filing deadline.

The IRS is, of course, more eager to collect money than to find the people it owes money to.

If it turns out that you do owe money, you will face fines for both failing to file on time and failing to pay on time. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
