Lonestar's lead singer wins NM jackpot

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Someone famous won big playing the New Mexico lottery.

Richie McDonald, the lead singer for the country band Lonestar, won $1,000 from the Cash Jackpot scratcher game.

McDonald and his manager were driving through New Mexico on their way to a concert in Las Vegas, Nevada when they stopped at the Pilot Travel Center in Moriarty to fuel up the tour bus.

McDonald bought the $10 scratcher and realized he won.

The New Mexico Lottery says he serenaded lottery employees when he collected his prize
